The ultimate guide to the very best Christmas Movies.

10th December 2018

I say it every month but how fast did last month go? In fact, how fast did the whole year go? Utter madness.

I couldn’t go through December without making the most of the whole Christmas topic and probably wearing the whole Christmas theme out. It’s not exactly Blogmas, lord knows I haven’t got the patience or brain capacity to be able to complete that but there will be Christmas-a-plenty on here over the next couple of weeks! Yay!

Today I thought I’d kick things off with a list of my families top films to watch this Christmas. Films that bring out the Christmas feeling in some of the biggest Scrooges!

christmas films

1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

As a family we absolutely love watching The Grinch. Shaniah is a huge fan of this movie, since she’s been off school with Chickenpox this film has been on daily along with The Cat In The Hat. Yes, as you can probably tell Shaniah is a massive fan of Dr. Seuss.

2. Elf

Now I have a confession here. Shaniah is NOT a fan of Elf. I know, how is that even possible? I recently found it on Amazon Prime and determined to introduce it to Shaniah I grabbed a blanket and some popcorn and settled down to watch it. Less than 10 minutes later, she was demanding that I turn the film off. unbelievable. Despite this Elf is still a much-loved film within the rest of the household.

3. Love Actually.

I absolutely love this film, in fact I watch it most weeks on the lead up to Christmas, pfft, I even watch it beyond Christmas! It;s just a really good film. I love the amount of  big stars that are within the cast too!

The fact that it is on Netflix doesn’t help my binge watching habit either!

Frozen

How could we not include Frozen? Shaniah has made sure that it made it’s way into our list. Personally for me, I don’t quite get how it is a Christmas movie other than the fact that is has Olaf who is of course, a snowman. That and the fact that we have to watch it all year round, at any given opportunity anyway.

Despite all that, I still believe it deserves it’s place on here as well as Frozen’s featurette, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, which happened to be one of Shaniah’s first cinema experiences.

Deck the Halls.

What is better to watch than two neighbours battling it out on who can have the best decorated house? It’s a simple story-line but it works. I think a few of my neighbours have gotten inspiration from this film as this year our street seems to be glowing!

Home Alone.

You didn’t think that we’d leave this banger out did you? We all love this film and honestly, it wouldn’t be Christmas without watching it. Kevin has one hell of an imagination which just goes to show the power of a kid that feels threatened by burglars and when there’s no adults to help.
Will we ever get the sound of ‘KEVIN’ out of our head?

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Just one of the many films taking Dicken’s story as it’s source. The Muppet Christmas Carol is undoubtedly the funniest. No matter what we always find ourselves watching it during the dark cold winter nights.
