Save, Splash or Splurge? Foundation

Make-up, Make-up, Make-up. There is nothing I love more, well I tell a lie cake and Asti come pretty close! Towards the end of last year I had a poll on my Twitter asking you lovely lot what you would like to see brought back to the blog. One of the things that a lot of you wanted to see return was my beauty bits. So here we are, (all be it a little late, how are we in February already?) with a new monthly beauty feature called Save, Splash or Splurge? A post where I share three types of beauty products one from each category and at the end I will conclude which in my opinion is my favourite. Sometimes paying more doesn’t always mean you get a better product!

The first in my Save, Splash or Splurge series is Foundation!

Foundation is one of the first make-up products I ever bought, back when I was a teenager sporting the orange Lloreal matte mousse look. We have all been there right? I’d like to think that my beauty regime has improved slightly since those days.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – £9.99

For £9.99 this foundation has very good coverage. It’s certainly not full coverage however, it is lightweight and smells absolutely amazing! One thing I did notice with Healthy Mix is that once you apply cream contour over the top it does seem to go a little cakey – which I absolutely hate. Powder contour is by far a better route to go down when using this. Healthy Mix comes in a variety of colours and they do cater for those of us who are a little on the pale side!

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Foundation – £12.99

This is the latest foundation that I have tried and so far I am loving it. There aren’t that many colours to choose from unlike the other two brands but it does have full coverage and you don’t even have to apply a lot of product to achieve that either! They aren’t wrong when they call it PhotoReady Airbrush because my skin looked instantly flawless and not at all cakey. It sits nicely on my skin and blends perfectly.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation – £33.50

I had super high hopes for this foundation and at first it delivered. Once applied it does look flawless but you do need to use more than you would with the other two to achieve this. Does it last 24 hours? Kind of, it does however start wearing away around the bottom of the nose, around the eyes and lips. It smells lovely and it does have full coverage so all is not lost.

Save, Splash or Splurge?

In this case it will have to be Splash. They are all great products but Revlon just has that little bit of an edge for me. It stays in place all day without separating or oxidising and it doesn’t feel heavy. For £12.99 it is worth giving it a go because a little goes a long way and I am certain that it will become one of your favourites too!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh I think foundation is the one time you don’t always get what you pay for. It’s so difficult to find something that works perfectly! I end up mixing the two lol x

Aww Thank you! I wish I had good enough skin to not need foundation. Got to hide all my uglies. xx
