Nappy rash is something Shaniah has battled with for the majority of her short life. Near enough every nappy change was full of tears and pain.
We aren’t alone though nappy rash is the most common skin complaint developed during infancy with almost every baby developing symptoms at least once during the first 3 years of life. A youngsters skin is 40% thinner and softer than ours.
Although Shaniah is now dry through the day, she still wear`s nappies/pull ups at night mainly because she’s always in a deep sleep and you cannot wake her – it is practically impossible!
Since being out of nappies during the day she doesn’t tend to get nappy rashes that bad however, when she does a wee/poo in her nappy at night the following morning she does end up a little red which is understandable because the nappy is on for quite a long time child sleeping permitting.
One of the main causes of nappy rash is of course the skin coming into contact with either wee or poo. Even the best nappies cloth or other can leave some moisture on our little ones skin, this can compromise the skins ability to act as a barrier. Nappy rash can make your little one more agitated interrupting their sleep and in turn cause distress for both you and your child.
Using a barrier cream like Bepanthen nappy oil care ointment after every nappy change, helps protect your little ones skin from the causes of nappy rash meaning that nappy rash doesn’t have to happen.
Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment is like a guardian angel for your little ones private area. Bepanthen forms a protective yet breathable barrier to reduce the contact your little ones skin has with irritants. It’s free from antiseptics, fragrances, colours and preservatives. It is so kind to your little ones skin that it can be used that it can be used at every nappy change including that of premature babies. Bepanthen contains Pro Vitamin B5 which gently aids natural recovery for sensitive skin while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturised. The water-in-oil formulation helps keep the skin healthy and hydrated, which is essential to maintain its natural protective barrier.
We’ve used Bepanthen quite a bit throughout Shaniah’s little life and we have always been super impressed with the high level of protection and care that it provides for her little bottom. Like I said earlier Shaniah is in pants during the day but we still apply it for prevention is better than cure right?
