It Takes Time

The first thing that you want to be keeping in mind is that this takes time. It’s not a change that
happens overnight and you can’t expect it to be. Everything about this situation is new for the child, and you have got to give them time to adjust to going to the toilet rather than just doing
their business in their nappy. It can be really tough and it can feel like it’s never going to end, but we promise you that it will.

Remember that on average it takes around three to six months to potty train a toddler, and that you just need to remain patient during this time. Shouting or getting angry with your child is only
getting to set the progress backwards, which is something that you want to avoid at all costs.

You’re Going To Want Nappies For Nighttime

Potty training is not something that you do all at once. Nighttime is when you need to keep the
nappies on the child. Don’t try to take them off too early, or you’re going to be cleaning up a lot
of wet beds. One of the things that we recommend is that you keep the nappies that are working well for your child, or change to pull ups if you think that this might be easier.

We also recommend that you get a mattress protector for the cot or bed of your child to absorb the leaks without letting them onto the mattress. You can purchase one and test how effective it is going to be by purchasing ultra pure synthetic urine. While it might seem unconventional, you don’t want a ruined mattress.

They Are Still Learning

The final thing that you need to keep in mind is that everything is still new for them and they are
still learning. They will take to this in their own time just like everything else. They are not getting
it wrong on purpose and they are not being naughty, they are simply trying to adapt to the new change as best they can.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you need
to remember when you are potty training your child or children. It’s a difficult time for a lot of
parents, but you just need to stay calm, and stick with it. Eventually, things are going to get better, and these tough days will just be a memory.

This is part of a collaboration.
