Common Overlooked Expenses That Ruin Your Car Budget.

8th August 2018

I recently wrote a post about ways to save money. Growing up we all had visions of massive mansions where we along with all our mates could have sleepovers, Ferrari red sports cars which we would dream of racing our mates in down the highway and monthly holidays to hotter places.

Truth is, when you’re young you don’t really understand the true value of Money and that can suck. While all that is achievable for some, for the majority of us it is way out of our hands.

The cost of buying a car nowadays is crazy too. It’s likely that buying a car is the second biggest purchase that we make in our lives, first being, purchasing a house, If you want a quality car that doesn’t break down you’re realistically going to find yourself paying out a good buck in order to achieve that.

There are a few ways in which you can bring down the expenses in which a car can bring. Things like getting your car serviced regularly can work out cheaper in the long run. Of course, there is likely to be some little corrections here and there to your car but servicing them regularly means that the problems are caught early before they have the chance to get worse. If you don’t take care of your car, it won’t take care of you.

Checking the pressure of your tires may sound like a strange one but keeping the pressure of your tires topped up not only prolongs the life of your tires but also improves fuel efficiency meaning not only will your tires last longer between replacements but you won’t be needing to fill your car up as often. What a win!

Insurance, Road Tax and the likes. All things that are completely necessary but can also cost a fortune if you don’t look around and shop a better deal. There are many, many websites out there that compare the prices of these things and they can easily get you a cracking good deal.

Talking about shopping a better deal, purchase second-hand. This is one thing that many, many people tend not to do. Buying a second-hand car isn’t a bad thing at all, in fact sometimes you are able to find a better car than one you would buy brand new. Why is that? Well, many second-hand car dealers  have cars ranging from budgets and specs meaning that for the price of a low spec brand new car you may well be able to find yourself an older car that comes with that touch screen radio system that you could only dream of having if you bought that brand new one. For example I had a browse through a few Fiat used cars in Brighton to see what I could get for less than what I would need to fork out for a brand new one and the gadgets that some of them came with is actually super exciting.

There are many, many ways in which owning a car need not break the bank and although getting a good priced car is one of the obvious ones, it is important that you go to a trusted dealer to make sure that that good deal doesn’t turn out to be a massive mistake.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
